The Clearwater Tornadoes<\/a> are taking a road trip to challenge the St. Petersburg Green Devils<\/a> at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Clearwater is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they’ve averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.<\/p>\n Clearwater is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 23 runs last Tuesday, they were much more limited against East Lake on Thursday. They fell 7-2 to the Eagles. The Tornadoes haven’t had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they’ve met.<\/p>\n Asa Merrills-Richardson<\/a> made the most of his time in the batter’s box despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one double. Yirvin Medina-Suarez<\/a> also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, St. Petersburg might’ve scored the first runs on Tuesday, but it was Sarasota who claimed the real prize. The Green Devils fell just short of the Sailors by a score of 5-4.<\/p>\n Clearwater now has a losing record of 2-3. As for St. Petersburg, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.<\/p>\n Clearwater was able to grind out a solid win over St. Petersburg in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, winning 5-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tornadoes since the squad won’t have the home-field advantage this time around. We’ll see if the change in venue makes a difference.<\/p>\n
