Tampa, FL – Downtown Tampa is preparing for the return of the River O Green festival, an annual St. Patrick\u2019s Day themed event that brings live entertainment, family activities and the well known tradition of turning the Hillsborough River green. <\/p>\n
The celebration will take place along the Tampa Riverwalk and at Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park, where thousands of visitors are expected to gather throughout the day.<\/p>\n
Organizers say the event continues to focus on creating a free and family friendly experience that highlights Irish themed performances, cultural activities and local food vendors. <\/p>\n
One of the most recognized moments of the festival is the river coloring ceremony, where environmentally approved dye is added to the water to create a bright green appearance. <\/p>\n
City officials have said the dye used is biodegradable and safe for the surrounding environment.<\/p>\n
