NEAL                                                                            dneal@miamiherald.com                                                                                        <\/p>\n<p>\u201cNumerous small, flying insects were observed around the produce juicer\u201d in the backroom.<\/p>\n<p>In the food services area, \u201cfood employees did not wash their hands before donning gloves to work with open food and espresso items.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>One food service area worker washed hands before putting on gloves, but did so \u201cwith cold water and without soap.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.miamiherald.com\/miami-com\/restaurants\/article314819257.html\">READ MORE: Over 60 ants on food; also unsafe food, unwashed hands at Miami pancake place<\/a><\/p>\n<p>In that same area, \u201cfood containers, hotel pans and utensils weren\u2019t sanitized after washing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Some things in the food service area weren\u2019t washed. Two deli slicers that hadn\u2019t been used since the previous day were \u201cfound with soil and food debris on blades and interior shields.\u201d Also, \u201ca ladle and spoon stored inside a container on the prep table near the steam table was found with old food debris.\u201d A can opener blade was \u201cfound with old food residue.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In the food service area, reach-in coolers with the job of storing food at or under 41 degrees contained cut lettuce, cut tomato, cheese spread, gallons of milk, serrano ham, gouda, mortadella, muenster, queso blanco, mozzarella, provolone, American cheese, potato salad, spaghetti salad, sweet beans and 168 packs of salted fish measured from 47 to 53 degrees.<\/p>\n<p>A fusillade of Stop Sales sent all of the above to the garbage.<\/p>\n<p>All that \u201ctemperature abuse,\u201d as the inspectors call it, likely means there\u2019s an equipment issue. The inspectors put Stop Use Orders on the Hillphoenix deli display cooler and the seafood display cooler that had all that salted fish.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.miamiherald.com\/news\/recalls\/article314839296.html\">READ MORE: Cottage cheese recalled from Walmart stores in 24 states may be health danger<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Also in the food service area sat \u201cpackaged raw meat and a bucket of fish thawing inside the wash basin of the three-compartment sink.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Room temperature thawing shouldn\u2019t occur, much less in the wash sink of the triple sink \u2014 especially since someone washed dishes in the rinse sink and a third person washed and rinsed a wiping cloth.<\/p>\n<p>The food service area\u2019s food employees, the inspectors noted, \u201cdo not wear effective hair restraints while working with open food items.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In the kitchen, \u201ctwo containers of breading used with raw fish were stored on a shelf over the oven since (the previous day) without being sifted.\u201d Another Stop Sale.<\/p>\n<p>The meat area cutting boards had \u201cdeep grooves\/cuts and can no longer be effectively cleaned and sanitized.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In the backroom, \u201cclamshells containing tamarind were stored inside a handwash sink next to the large ice machine.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Speaking of that large ice machine, it had \u201cblack, mold-life substance on the interior walls and ledges.\u201d The smaller ice machine near the receiving door had \u201ca heavy accumulation of black, mold-like substance on the interior ice chute.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The outdoor dumpster near that receiving door was \u201cnot covered with a lid at the time of the visit\u201d and still wasn\u2019t Wednesday afternoon.
