There\u2019s a little more time to apply for an eBike voucher from the City of Tampa.<\/p>\n
Tampa residents can still sign up to receive up to $3,000 toward the purchase of a new eBike through the city\u2019s lottery-based program.<\/p>\n
Last month, the City of Tampa\u2019s parking division reopened the initiative, which provides financial assistance for eBike purchases at participating local bike shops.\u00a0<\/p>\n
With $500,000 in funding this year, officials say the program will provide up to 248 vouchers split into three tiers broken down by income level<\/p>\n
81 standard vouchers for $1,000 off a new eBike<\/p>\n
82 low-income vouchers for $2,000 off a new bike<\/p>\n
85 very low-income vouchers for $3,000 off a new eBike<\/p>\n
The program, officials said, aims to offer a safe, affordable option to get around Tampa without a car. The E-bike boom has also led to an increase in injuries, some doctors and cops argue<\/a>.<\/p>\n Applications for Tampa\u2019s e-Bike vouchers opened Friday, Feb. 13 at 8 a.m., and close Friday, Feb. 27 at 5pm. Tampa Residents may apply at tampa.gov\/ebike<\/a> or in person at the City\u2019s Parking Division offices located on the third floor of the Fort Brooke Garage, 107 N Franklin St.<\/a>.<\/p>\n During the first two years of the program in 2023 and 2024, the program awarded over 450 vouchers for eBikes discounts, according to the City of Tampa.<\/p>\n The voucher is not for a free bike, but rather a set amount that goes toward the purchase of a new eBike, which may cover the full cost depending on the model. The average price of an eBike is around $2,000, with entry-level options starting near $1,000 and high-end models costing $6,000 or more at retailers like REI<\/a>.<\/p>\n Applicants who receive a voucher may purchase an eBike from seven participating shops:<\/p>\n City Bike Tampa<\/p>\n EMOTO Supply Co.<\/p>\n Oliver\u2019s Cycle Sports<\/p>\n Outspokin Bicycles <\/p>\n Tampa Pedego Tampa<\/p>\n Tampa Bay eBikes\u00a0<\/p>\n Trek Bicycle Tampa<\/p>\n Tampa Bay eBikes\u2019 online shop has bikes priced starting at $1,699.
