Tampa International Airport <\/a>sparked several questions and a few laughs on Thursday when it posted a social media statement announcing that Crocs and pajamas were banned from the airport. <\/p>\n

“We’ve seen enough. We’ve had enough. It’s time to ban pajamas at Tampa International Airport,” the post on X said. “After successfully banning Crocs and giving everyone the amazing opportunity to experience the world’s first Crocs-free airports, it’s time to take on an even larger crisis. Pajamas. At. The. Airport. In the middle of the day. We know this decision could be disruptive to someone in your life. It’s time to have a difficult conversation with them. You can do this. We (and Phoebe) believe in you. The madness stops today. The movement starts now. Help Tampa International Airport become the world’s first Crocs-free AND pajama-free airport. DO YOUR PART. SAY NO TO PAJAMAS AT TPA.” <\/p>\n

The announcement comes months after Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy urged passengers to dress with respect, <\/a>encouraging travelers to swap pajamas and slippers for more polished clothing at airports. His comments, echoed by Tampa International Airport\u2019s cheeky social\u2011media post calling out casual outfits, have fueled a broader conversation about whether comfort has gone too far in modern air travel and whether pushing for more presentable attire is reasonable\u2014or simply out of touch with today\u2019s often delay\u2011ridden, high\u2011stress flying experience.<\/p>\n

Despite the post saying the airport had successfully banned Crocs and planned to do the same with pajamas, Tampa International Airport told Newsweek the statement was not binding. <\/p>\n

“Tampa International Airport\u00a0regularly shares lighthearted, satirical social media content as part of our ongoing effort to engage with our followers,” the statement sent to Newsweek said. “Today\u2019s post about ‘banning’ pajamas was another playful nod to day-of-travel fashion debates. We encourage our passengers to travel comfortably and appreciate our loyal followers who enjoy the online humor.”<\/p>\n

Tampa International Airport has long joked about the fashion, or lack thereof, of Crocs, such as in July of last year, when the airport announced that passengers could now keep shoes on while passing through TSA.<\/p>\n

“The TSA will now let you keep your shoes on through security at TPA!!!!!* *unless you\u2019re wearing Crocs\u2026you should take those off and throw them away,” the post said.<\/p>\n

Despite its message on X on Thursday announcing the successful banning of Crocs at the airport, Tampa International Airport has not actually banned the shoe choice. <\/p>\n
