{"id":171064,"date":"2026-02-27T04:58:18","date_gmt":"2026-02-27T04:58:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/171064\/"},"modified":"2026-02-27T04:58:18","modified_gmt":"2026-02-27T04:58:18","slug":"breeze-announces-nonstop-service-to-fort-lauderdale-from-wilkes-barre-scranton","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/171064\/","title":{"rendered":"Breeze announces nonstop service to Fort Lauderdale from Wilkes-Barre\/Scranton"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<p>PITTSTON TWP. \u2014 Following a dismal month due to severe winter weather, flights at the Wilkes-Barre\/Scranton International Airport decreased significantly, but with news that Breeze Airways is adding nonstop flights to Orlando, Fla., there was reason to celebrate at Thursday\u2019s meeting of the Bi-County Airport Board.<\/p>\n<p>Beth Coslett, Air Service Development director, delivered her monthly report on passenger activity, noting that passenger enplanements for January decreased 11% to 18,418, from 20,670 in January 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Coslett also reported that 23 departing flights were cancelled in January \u2014 22 for weather, 1 for air traffic control issues. Coslett said 25 arriving flights were cancelled \u2014 24 for weather; 1 for ATC.<\/p>\n<p>In January 2024, the airport announced Breeze Airways would be the carrier to return nonstop flights to Florida \u2014 a service that was absent for years following the departure of Allegiant. According to the airport website, Breeze offers four daily flights to Fort Myers, Fla., on Mondays and Fridays; four daily flights to Orlando, Fla., on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays; and four daily flights on Sundays and Thursdays to Tampa, Fla.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this week, Breeze Airways announced a new nonstop route to Fort Lauderdale, Fla., from the Wilkes-Barre\/Scranton International Airport. Service will be offered on Wednesdays and Saturdays starting July 1. Fares for the new route will start at $79 one-way.<\/p>\n<p>In other business, the board:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Approved a one-year agreement between the airport and Beach Lake Sprinkler Fire Protection Services, effective April 1, 2026.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Approved the financial report offered by Chris Dalessandro, director of finance, that noted for the month of January 2026, airport operations had a loss totaling $37,513, compared to an income of $8,449 in January 2025 \u2014 a difference of $45,962. Dalessandro said year to date, the loss is $37,513, compared to a profit of $8,449 in 2025 \u2014 a difference of $45,962.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Approved the request of Michelle Aigeldinger, director of human resources, to accept the resignation of Anthony Constantine, Dunmore, maintenance, effective Jan. 26, 2026.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Heard the report of BJ Teichman, assistant executive director, on two items:<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Super16 Dream Team Award: As the original sponsor of the Super16 Dream Team Showcase for the past 22 years, AVP has been with WNEP from day one. <\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Lackawanna &amp; Luzerne counties signed a partnership agreement on Feb. 19 at the Wilkes-Barre \/ Scranton International Airport (AVP).
