Sincere M. Perkins, 25, of Tallahassee, was sentenced after having previously been convicted at jury trial of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a machine gun, said John P. Heekin, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Florida.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Evidence at trial showed how members of the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force found Perkins in a Tallahassee apartment stemming from an outstanding arrest warrant. Perkins was taken into custody, and during a search of the apartment, officers found multiple firearms, including a pistol that had been modified to fire as a machine gun, prosecutors said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Ballistics from two of the recovered firearms matched shell casings from a shooting that had occurred a month and a half earlier in Quincy, in which two teenagers were shot. Perkins\u2019 DNA was found on both firearms that had been used in the shooting, and a recorded jail call indicated that he was consciously aware of being in possession of the firearms, they said.
