THE FLATS\u202f\u2013\u00a0Hot shooting\u00a0and lockdown defense saw Georgia Tech women\u2019s basketball roll to a 79-49 victory over Miami in the regular season finale at McCamish Pavilion Sunday afternoon.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The Yellow Jackets (13-17, 8-10 ACC) shot 46.7% from the floor and doubled the Hurricanes (16-13, 8-10 ACC) in made three\u2019s (8 to 4) Sunday. Tech led 26-12 after\u00a0one, 45-24 at the half and outscored the Canes 25-9 in the third to roll to its 10th\u00a0home victory in year one under head coach\u00a0Karen Blair.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Talayah Walker\u00a0led the Jackets with 33 points on 12-for-17 shooting, including a career-high five made\u00a0three\u2019s. She became just one of three in the ACC this season to have at least three games scoring 30 points or more \u2013 and set a new Georgia Tech single-season record for 30-point games (3).\u00a0She also finished with six rebounds and three steals.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Brianna Turnage\u00a0\u2013 one of the senior honored pregame \u2013 had team-highs with 11 rebounds and eight assists, finishing two assists shy of her second non-points double-double this season. She\u00a0remains\u00a0the only ACC player to have a double-double without scoring in double figures this season.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
Also scoring in double figures Sunday were senior\u00a0Catherine Alben\u00a0(11) and\u00a0La\u2019Nya\u00a0Foster\u00a0(11).\u00a0Savannah Samuel, who was also honored in Sunday\u2019s pregame Senior Day ceremonies, added nine points on a perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line.\u00a0Erica Moon\u00a0also added eight points with five assists.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Georgia Tech capped off the 2025-26 home slate without losing back-to-back home games, a feat the program has not done in a full season since 2018-19.\u00a0<\/p>\n

FIRST HALF\u00a0<\/p>\n
Walker hit a triple on Tech\u2019s first possession, giving the Jackets a quick 3-0 lead.\u00a0Tech then got on a 9-2 run thanks to back-to-back baskets from Foster and Moon, followed by a driving layup from Walker.\u00a0She added seven-consecutive points\u00a0and 10 of Tech\u2019s first 14 as the Jackets\u00a0led 14-10 at the 4:54 media timeout. Out of that break, she drilled another trey to make it 17-10.\u00a0Back-to-back\u00a0makes\u00a0from Alben including an impressive play on a fastbreak put Tech in front by 11, 21-10.\u00a0Walker then drilled her fourth triple of the period to make it 24-10. An\u00a012-0 Georgia Tech run in the final stages of the first saw the Ramblin\u2019 Wreck lead 26-12 after one.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Walker\u00a0got to\u00a020 points after a steal-and-score for the first score of the second, having scored all but 10 of the Jackets\u2019 first 30 points.\u00a0After Miami managed some successful scores,\u00a0Ariadna\u00a0Termis\u00a0and Foster made back-to-back triples for Tech, 38-22.\u00a0An\u00a0impressive defensive period for Tech, they did not allow a Miami FG after 4:21 on the clock, ending the half on a 7-0 run \u2013 all scored from Samuel \u2013 to lead 45-24 at the break.\u00a0<\/p>\n

SECOND HALF\u00a0<\/p>\n
Miami scored first on a couple free throws but its run end there as Tech rattled off eight-straight points to force the Canes to use a timeout just\u00a0110 seconds\u00a0into the third, 53-26.\u00a0The run blossomed to 12-0 before the Canes finally broke it with their first FG of the half, 6:33 into the quarter.\u00a0The defense allowed just two more Miami field goals the rest of the way\u00a0en\u00a0route to a 25-point third. Walker added 11\u00a0total\u00a0in the frame to\u00a0send the Jackets to a\u00a070-33\u00a0lead\u00a0going into the fourth.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Miami managed a\u00a09-2 run\u00a0going into the 4:58 media timeout, but Tech still led by 30, 72-42.\u00a0Tech picked up the scoring out of the\u00a0break\u00a0including three more points from Alben and another score from Foster with Tech still leading by 30, 77-47.\u00a0Walker added two more on free throws to match her career-high of 33 as Tech cruised to the 79-49 win.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Walker became just one of two players in the ACC this season to have multiple games of 30 points, five rebounds and three steals.\u00a0Tech had 20 assists for\u00a028 made\u00a0shots while allowing just 11 assists from the Canes.\u00a0The Jackets\u2019 30-point win was its largest in ACC play since Dec. 29,\u00a02024\u00a0vs. Pitt (39) and was its largest margin of victory over the Hurricanes in series history.\u00a0<\/p>\n
