With Inter Miami<\/a> 2-0 down to rivals Orlando City<\/a> at half-time, Lionel Messi’s side were on the verge of a second-straight defeat to start the 2026 MLS<\/a> Season.<\/p>\n

What happened next will go down in Florida Derby folklore.<\/p>\n

Miami came out flying in the second-half and quickly pulled a goal back.<\/p>\n

Then, flocked by defenders on the edge of the box, Messi fired a beautiful strike into the top-right corner to equalise for Miami.<\/p>\n

It was Messi’s first MLS<\/a> goal of the season and his first of the calendar year.<\/p>\n

Remarkably, the\u00a038-year-old has now scored in 22 consecutive years (2005-2026); a mark of his sustained excellence.<\/p>\n

Miami completed the comeback in the 85th minute as\u00a0Telasco Segovia gave them the lead off of a Messi assist.<\/p>\n

However, the Argentine wasn’t done as he snuck a well-placed free-kick into the bottom-left corner to seal the result.<\/p>\n

Going into the match, Inter Miami<\/a> had never won away to Orlando in club history (five losses and four draws in all competitions).<\/p>\n

But, thanks to two goals and an assist from their Argentinian superstar, Miami finally broke their derby curse to secure their first MLS<\/a> win of the season.<\/p>\n
