TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) \u2013 Part of Jefferson Street in Tallahassee has been renamed to honor former Leon County Clerk of Court Dave Lang, who served more than 40 years. <\/p>\n
Dave Lang Street runs alongside the Leon County Courthouse between Monroe and Calhoun streets. Dozens of people came out for Monday morning\u2019s unveiling. <\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s wonderful,\u201d Dave Lang said. In February, city commissioners unanimously passed a vote<\/a> in support of the street renaming. \u201cTo me, it could not be better. Today puts the cherry on top,\u201d Lang said. <\/p>\n More Tallahassee News<\/p>\n Lang was diagnosed with cancer two years ago and his son, Chuck, said he is thankful to see this recognition while his father is still alive. <\/p>\n \u201cHe\u2019s still 1,000 times sharper than I am; he just doesn\u2019t have much energy now,\u201d Chuck said. \u201cSo, to time that now before he\u2019s gone, while we still have him, was just a blessing on top of a blessing.\u201d <\/p>\n In addition to the street renaming, Mayor John Dailey presented Lang with a key to the city. <\/p>\n Tune in to Eyewitness News at 5 and 6 for the full story.
