A film screening and an online auction will support education, conservation and grant giving.<\/p>\n

The Sanibel FlyFishers is hosting its Annual Fundraiser and Film Tour. The auction and raffle are live now, with the film tour set for March 12 from 5:30 to 9 p.m. at The Community House on Sanibel.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is the biggest fundraiser for the club,\u201d President Jeff Grossman said. \u201cWhile we\u2019re a fishing club, we are also very much into education and conservation and, to the extent we can, philanthropy.\u201d<\/p>\n

Proceeds from the fundraiser will go to local organizations that support education and conservation. The Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation and its Marine lab are one of the club\u2019s grant recipients.<\/p>\n

Leading up to the screening, the auction and raffle are open online through March 12 at 8 p.m.<\/p>\n

The auction features 10 goodies up for grabs, with another 17 prizes in the raffle.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe auction and raffle items fall into three broad categories,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

There are experiences, such as fishing on land, fishing charters, fly-tying sessions and casting lessons. There is also fly-fishing gear, like rods, reels, flies and a fly-tying bench, plus other outdoor gear.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd then we have some artwork done by club members, along with a custom-painted mailbox,\u201d Grossman said.<\/p>\n

Buying tickets for the raffle items and bidding on the auction items is done online.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou don\u2019t have to be present to win,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n

The public is encouraged to hop online to see what is available to win.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor anybody who has a tie to Sanibel, this is a chance to enrich the community and, in particular, to support our education and conservation efforts,\u201d Grossman said.<\/p>\n

The auction and raffle will lead up to the screening \u2014 the 2026 Fly Fishing Film Tour (F3T).<\/p>\n

\u201cF3T is a national film tour,\u201d he said, explaining that this year\u2019s production will feature 11 short films showcasing fly fishing stories from Alaska to Brazil. \u201cIt is a collection of films about fishing.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThese are typically short vignettes of fishing in very beautiful places,\u201d Grossman added. \u201cIt is a delight for those who fly fish, but also a wonderful travel log for people to watch.\u201d<\/p>\n

Attendees will enjoy a light dinner catered by A Bit of Bailey\u2019s.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will also announce the winners of the auction and raffle that night,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Tickets are $20 for members and $30 for non-members.<\/p>\n

The community is invited to reserve a ticket.<\/p>\n

\u201cBased on past years, the event has been a huge amount of fun. People have really enjoyed it,\u201d Grossman said. \u201cAnd every penny will be supporting a good cause.\u201d<\/p>\n
