ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. \u2013 After University High School was forced to lock down over a shooting scare, deputies announced on Tuesday that they\u2019ve caught the teen responsible.<\/p>\n
Orange County deputies initially said that the district received a call about a shooting at the high school on Monday, prompting a huge response from law enforcement.<\/p>\n
But after a search of the campus, investigators determined the entire incident was a \u201cprank.\u201d<\/p>\n

On Tuesday, the sheriff\u2019s office revealed that a 14-year-old had been arrested for calling 911 to report an active shooter at the high school.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat call elicited a massive law enforcement response \u2014 and those deputies could not be in their areas addressing real crime,” a release from the sheriff\u2019s office reads. \u201cAll because someone thought it would be hilarious to call 911 and make up a story that is every parent\u2019s and student\u2019s nightmare.\u201d<\/p>\n

Deputies have not yet revealed the identity of the student, but the release concludes, \u201cThat\u2019s a felony.\u201d<\/p>\n
No additional information has been provided at this time.<\/p>\n
