(WCTV) &#8211; Gas prices are climbing as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wctv.tv\/2026\/03\/03\/iran-attacks-threaten-us-economy-with-more-uncertainty-around-inflation-growth\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.wctv.tv\/2026\/03\/03\/iran-attacks-threaten-us-economy-with-more-uncertainty-around-inflation-growth\/\">conflict with Iran disrupts global oil markets<\/a>, and drivers in the capital city are feeling the impact.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The statewide average for a gallon of regular gasoline in Florida has risen to $3.07, according to AAA. In Tallahassee, drivers are paying an average of $2.94 per gallon, though prices are expected to continue increasing throughout the week.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Canyln Swisher, a Tallahassee driver, said higher prices are already straining his budget. He said he is paying about $36 more to fill up his truck than he did a week ago.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cIt definitely is not good, considering my pay didn\u2019t go up,\u201d Swisher said. \u201cStill gotta fork out money to drive. It is a requirement. Prices fluctuate, and hopefully it\u2019ll come down soon so I can recoup some losses.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | text-center article-text\">More Tallahassee news:<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Mark Jenkins, a spokesperson for AAA, said crude oil prices jumped about $5 per barrel Monday, resulting in a 10 to 15 cent increase per gallon at the pump. Prices rose again on Tuesday, he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Jenkins said the conflict is also heightening concerns about oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cRight now, there are a lot of concerns within the energy industry about the Strait of Hormuz,\u201d Jenkins said. \u201cThat traffic has essentially halted, which means there is a lot of oil sitting on barges and not being used while demand still exists.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Jenkins said there is no clear timeline for when prices might ease.
