{"id":177637,"date":"2026-03-04T11:25:09","date_gmt":"2026-03-04T11:25:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/177637\/"},"modified":"2026-03-04T11:25:09","modified_gmt":"2026-03-04T11:25:09","slug":"almost-across-the-board-ron-desantis-is-more-popular-than-donald-trump-in-florida","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/177637\/","title":{"rendered":"Almost across the board, Ron DeSantis is more popular than Donald Trump in Florida"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The man in Tallahassee enjoys majority approval, but POTUS is underwater.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In 2024,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/floridapolitics.com\/archives\/768457-hands-full-ron-desantis-again-downplays-interest-in-a-second-presidential-run\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Ron DeSantis<\/a> was out of the presidential race long before a face-off in his home\u00a0state\u2019s Presidential Primary against <a href=\"https:\/\/floridapolitics.com\/archives\/652178-ron-desantis-feels-underestimated\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">Donald Trump<\/a>, seemingly recognizing that no \u201cfavorite-son\u201d\u00a0bump awaited him.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Two years later, though, polling from the <a href=\"http:\/\/unf.edu\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"external noopener noreferrer nofollow\">University of North Florida<\/a> shows the Governor is more popular than Trump is in the state, with every conceivable demographic.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Overall, DeSantis has 52% approval against 42% disapproval, while Trump is underwater, with 45% favorably disposed to him and 48% against him.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">DeSantis is more popular among Republicans, with 87% approval, compared with just 83% for Trump.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">But Democrats and independent voters also hold DeSantis in greater esteem. DeSantis has 41% support among unaligned voters, 10 points greater than Trump\u2019s backing among the same group. And DeSantis has double the support among Democrats as does Trump, 12% to 6%.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ncf.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external noreferrer nofollow\" data-wpel-link=\"external\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-722105 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Sunburn_FloridaPoliticsWebsite_728x905186-scaled-e1740018793631.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"728\" height=\"90\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">DeSantis has a 5-point edge among men, with 60% support compared to 55% for Trump. And while both men are underwater with women, DeSantis\u2019 44% support is 7 points higher than Trump\u2019s in the same group.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">DeSantis\u2019 edge extends to all age groups, to Whites, and to Hispanics. He\u2019s also 3 points ahead of Trump among both those who backed Trump and those who backed Kamala Harris in 2024.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Trump does lead DeSantis with Black voters, albeit marginally, with 11% support among the group compared to 10% for DeSantis.<\/p>\n<p>The poll was conducted between Feb. 21 and March 2 with a margin of error of 4.4 percentage points<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The man in Tallahassee enjoys majority approval, but POTUS is underwater.
