The new J. Wayne and Delores Barr Weaver Manatee River Habitat and VyStar SkyScape Entrance<\/a>\u00a0at Jacksonville Zoo and Botanical Gardens\u00a0are days away from opening, after years of construction.<\/p>\n

Construction on the two projects began back in October 2023,<\/a> totaling $72 million.<\/p>\n

About a month ago, the 2026\u00a0Toast to Conservation Gala attendees, including\u00a0wildlife conservationist and Australian zookeeper Robert Irwin,<\/a>\u00a0got an exclusive first look at the Manatee River Habitat.<\/p>\n

Now, guests can finally visit Alpine, Francesco and Cullen, three manatees the zoo rescued and transferred to Jacksonville for continued rehabilitation, at the exhibit’s grand opening this week.<\/a><\/p>\n

What are Jacksonville Zoo hours?<\/p>\n

Jacksonville Zoo and Botanical Gardens<\/a> is open daily from 9 a.m. \u2013 5 p.m., except for Thanksgiving and Christmas Day.<\/p>\n

Last tickets are sold at 4 p.m. each day.<\/p>\n
