JENSEN BEACH, Fla (CBS12) \u2014 Martin County firefighters recently carried out a complex rooftop rescue after a worker suffered a medical emergency while on top of a home in Jensen Beach.<\/p>\n

According to Martin County Fire Rescue, crews were dispatched on February 24 after an adult male became unresponsive while working on the roof of a private home. Because of the height and limited access, the department\u2019s Special Response Team (SRT) was called to conduct the technical rescue.<\/p>\n

Fire officials said SRT members climbed onto the roof and began providing emergency medical care under challenging conditions. Crews used a LUCAS device \u2014 a mechanical chest compression system designed to deliver consistent, automated CPR \u2014 to maintain continuous compressions both on the roof and during the patient\u2019s descent to the ground.<\/p>\n

Once the man was safely lowered, paramedics continued care and administered Advanced Life Support treatment in the ambulance. The patient, who was in serious condition, was transported to a nearby hospital.<\/p>\n

Fire rescue officials commended the teamwork involved, saying the response demonstrated the department\u2019s commitment to handling high-risk rescues.
