(<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mysuncoast.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.mysuncoast.com\/\">WWSB<\/a>) &#8211; St. Petersburg police help a victim escape through a window during a duplex fire.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Crews with St. Petersburg Fire Rescue (SPFR) responded to the structure fire at a one-story duplex about 9:30 a.m. Upon arrival, firefighters reported heavy smoke and flames coming from the building.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Before firefighters reached the scene, police officers assisted one occupant out of the duplex through a window.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mysuncoast.com\/2026\/03\/04\/pilot-walks-away-emergency-landing-tampa-street\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.mysuncoast.com\/2026\/03\/04\/pilot-walks-away-emergency-landing-tampa-street\/\">Pilot walks away from emergency landing on Tampa street<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">All four adult residents were evacuated, SPFR said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Firefighters launched an aggressive interior attack and prevented the flames from spreading to a nearby home. Two people were taken to a hospital for further evaluation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Crews remained at the scene to complete overhaul operations.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The cause of the fire is under investigation. <\/p>\n<p class=\"copyright |\">Copyright 2026 WWSB.
