Florida gubernatorial candidate James Fishback, a Republican, announced on Wednesday that his campaign has been banned from every Waffle House in the state.<\/p>\n
Fishback\u2019s campaign<\/a> has been riddled with scandal<\/a> since he launched<\/a> his bid to follow Ron DeSantis<\/a> as Florida\u2019s next governor last November. From reports<\/a> that a Florida school district \u201ccut ties\u201d with the candidate after a student claimed<\/a> he had an \u201cinappropriate relationship\u201d with her while she was underage, to his racist attack<\/a> on his Trump-endorsed Republican primary rival, Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL), Fishback\u2019s scandals have drawn scrutiny and stymied fundraising<\/a>.<\/p>\n The candidate made his bigoted comments about Donalds in a January interview<\/a> with Tucker Carlson, who endorsed<\/a> Fishback during their conversation. In the same interview, Fishback shared his plans to visit \u201cevery single Waffle House\u201d in the state of Florida\u2013 a move he dubbed \u201ca statewide Waffle House tour.\u201d<\/p>\n In his statement announcing that his campaign had been banned from the restaurant chain on Wednesday, Fishback claimed he had initially been permitted to campaign inside those locations.<\/p>\n \u201cIn January, I announced on The Tucker Carlson Show that I would visit every Waffle House in Florida to meet voters where they are,\u201d his statement<\/a> read. \u201cI was grateful that Waffle House Corporate gave us permission to do exactly that.\u201d<\/p>\n Fishback claimed that permission was then revoked by the company, declining to give further details about the situation.<\/p>\n \u201cThis morning, Waffle House abruptly revoked our permission, and criminally trespassed us from all of their Florida locations,\u201d he said. \u201cI am disappointed in Waffle House\u2019s decision, especially since they had given us explicit permission to visit their restaurants just 3 weeks ago.\u201d<\/p>\n Waffle House Corporate has not yet commented on Fishback\u2019s claims.<\/p>\n Fishback will face Donald and the current governor\u2019s wife, Casey DeSantis,\u00a0in November. The latest polling<\/a> from the University of North Florida gives Donalds a significant<\/a> lead over DeSantis, with Fishback trailing<\/a> in single digits.<\/p>\n The post Florida Gov.
