Hialeah<\/a> and iMater Charter<\/a> are an even 4-4 against one another since April of 2017, but likely not for long. The Thoroughbreds will welcome the Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.<\/p>\n

Hialeah took an eight-run defeat the last time they faced off against Hialeah Gardens, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Thoroughbreds skirted past the Gladiators 3-1. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Thoroughbreds as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.<\/p>\n

Hialeah gave Jude Fernandez<\/a> the start and clearly made the right call: he didn’t allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Fernandez also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the Thoroughbreds are 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-3 otherwise. Yaniel Tabares<\/a> picked up the save, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.<\/p>\n

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Tyler Vazquez<\/a>, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, iMater Charter earned a 5-1 victory over Brito on Thursday.<\/p>\n

Luis Hernandez<\/a> got the start for iMater Charter and what a start it was: he struck out 13 batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Hernandez has been consistent recently: he hasn’t given up more than two hits any time he’s pitched this season.<\/p>\n

At the plate, Alexey Fuentes<\/a> was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That’s the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2025. Rogert Jimenez Jr<\/a> also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.<\/p>\n

IMater Charter was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. That was just more of the same: they’ve now posted a batting average of .375 or higher in four consecutive games.<\/p>\n

IMater Charter’s win bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Hialeah, their victory bumped their record up to 3-4.<\/p>\n
