Inter Miami is being recognized at the White House on Thursday.<\/p>\n

The MLS club owned by David Beckham won the MLS Cup at the end of last season, and President Donald Trump is hosting the champions.<\/p>\n

Beckham, though, won’t be there.<\/p>\n

The reason is a fair one, reported by CNN’s Kit Maher on X<\/a>: “David Beckham, one of the owners, is not attending the event because he\u2019s in Europe for his wife Victoria\u2019s fashion show, the (White House) official added.”<\/p>\n

Beckham was essentially the entire architect of the Inter Miami project.<\/p>\n

MLS had 24 teams before it came to Miami as an expansion club.<\/p>\n

Beckham brought in high-profile names to help form the club, and then Inter Miami also brought in world-class players on the field.<\/p>\n

Lionel Messi<\/a>, maybe the greatest player ever, highlighted those moves.<\/p>\n

Messi was joined by the likes of Sergio Busquets, Luis Suarez and Jordi Alba.<\/p>\n

This wasn’t just an all-star team. It was an all-world team.<\/p>\n

Beckham’s project began winning immediately when Messi and company arrived, and it culminated in that league championship at the end of the 2025 season.<\/p>\n

He himself a former MLS import, an Englishman who brought a whirlwind when he joined LA Galaxy, Beckham took things to another level by bringing Messi to the league.<\/p>\n

It rewarded Inter Miami’s ownership group with a championship and now a visit to the White House.<\/p>\n

Beckham isn’t there, but his impact certainly is.<\/p>\n
