The Tallahassee Police Department is investigating after a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run crash in northwest Tallahassee on Thursday night.<\/p>\n
TPD spokesperson Damon Miller told the Democrat the pedestrian sustained severe injures in a \u201cvehicle versus pedestrian\u201d accident. Police are searching for the motorist that hit the pedestrian. No vehicle description was provided.<\/p>\n
As of 8 p.m., police were on the scene of the crash in the area of Capital Circle Northwest and the 4400 block of West Tennessee Street.<\/p>\n

A video posted on social media of the scene showed a person lying in the road as first responders rushed to provide aid and bring in a stretcher. Witnesses gathered on the sidewalk with what appears to be pieces of a vehicle and shoes nearby.<\/p>\n
All eastbound lanes on West Tennessee Street were closed from Capital Circle Northwest to the 3700 block of West Tennessee Street, but were later reopened.<\/p>\n
According to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicle’s crash dashboard<\/a>, the accident was at least the 39th involving a pedestrian since the new year began. So far, there has been one pedestrian death, the agency reports.<\/p>\n
