TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – The Grove Museum in Tallahassee celebrated its anniversary and Florida Archaeology Month with its annual Grove Day on Saturday. <\/p>\n
The day included archaeological demonstrations, live animals, activities for kids, musical performances, and community vendors. <\/p>\n
John Grandage is the assistant director for the state\u2019s Division of Historical Resources. He said Grove Day is an opportunity for the community to learn about Florida\u2019s history. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe Grove is one of the places that help us to understand why Florida is important in the celebration of 250 years of American history,\u201d Grandage said. <\/p>\n
There were free, interactive learning opportunities for kids and adults. People attending also got a tour of the museum. <\/p>\n
Grandage said Grove Day is always at the beginning of March in honor of the museum\u2019s opening, which is also near Florida Governor Thomas Collins\u2019 birthday. <\/p>\n
\u201cFrom all the way before the Civil War and up to the time of Governor Collins, who was involved in the era of civil rights, our historic sites here, especially in Tallahassee, have so many stories to tell,\u201d Grandage said. <\/p>\n
He said Grove Day also gives people a chance to see the springtime bloom on the museum grounds. <\/p>\n
