TAMPA, Fla.\u00a0\u2014 The mother of former Tampa Bay Rays players Josh Lowe and Nathaniel Lowe has died after a multi-year battle with cancer, according to social media posts from the two brothers.<\/p>\n
Wendy Lowe was diagnosed with brain cancer in 2023 and had been going through chemotherapy and other medical appointments ever since.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is with great sadness that I\u2019m sharing my mom has finished her race here on earth,\u201d Josh Lowe wrote on Instagram. \u201cI know heaven has welcomed her with open arms as she has crossed the eternal finish line.\u201d<\/p>\n
Both Josh and Nathaniel began their careers in the Rays organization, but never shared a major league field while playing for the same team.<\/p>\n
Nathaniel was traded to the Texas Rangers in 2020 before Josh ever made an MLB appearance, but this made for one of their mother\u2019s most iconic moments.<\/p>\n
Back in June 2023, Wendy showed up to a Rays-Rangers game wearing a custom, split baseball jersey \u2014 one half a white Rays uniform, the other in Rangers blue, with \u201cLowe\u201d written across the back.<\/p>\n
Later that season, she missed the two play against each other in an AL Wild Card series due to her cancer treatments.<\/p>\n
