{"id":183551,"date":"2026-03-08T22:56:08","date_gmt":"2026-03-08T22:56:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/183551\/"},"modified":"2026-03-08T22:56:08","modified_gmt":"2026-03-08T22:56:08","slug":"south-florida-iranians-rally-behind-reza-pahlavi-as-uncertainty-grows-over-irans-leadership","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/183551\/","title":{"rendered":"South Florida Iranians rally behind Reza Pahlavi as uncertainty grows over Iran\u2019s leadership"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text text--small text--normal text--primary\">Published:\u00a0March 8, 2026 at 6:38 PM<\/p>\n<p>South Florida Iranians rally behind Reza Pahlavi as uncertainty grows over Iran\u2019s leadership <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. \u2014 Iranian Americans in South Florida say their families back home recognize only one potential new leader for Iran.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">At a rally on Sunday, demonstrators chanted the name of former Iranian crown prince Reza Pahlavi as they called for political change in their homeland.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">For several weeks &#8212; even before the latest conflict involving Iran &#8212; supporters in South Florida have been gathering to demand a new direction for the country.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Within the last hour of a gathering, participants said reports emerged that the son of Iran\u2019s longtime leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, had been named to take over after Khamenei was reportedly killed in a joint U.S. and Israeli airstrike nine days ago.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Before that reported decision, Donald Trump had already said Khamenei\u2019s son would not be a choice to lead the country.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Many demonstrators in South Florida say they would only support Pahlavi.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Rally organizer Orusha Asharafy said supporters believe Pahlavi is committed to the Iranian people.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cI know he believes in the Iranian people and he\u2019s mentioned 1,000 times that he wants to make Iran great again,\u201d Asharafy said. \u201cBased on that, he supports the Iranian.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The rally remained peaceful.
