JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville baseball dropped the series finale to UNC Wilmington on Sunday afternoon, 7-2, in a game that was called after five innings due to weather delays at John Sessions Stadium.<\/p>\n
Jacksonville shuffled its lineup defensively for the finale, moving Cade Walter<\/a> to center field while Blake Edmonds<\/a> earned the start in left. Both first basemen were also featured in the lineup, with Sam Grunberg<\/a> starting at first base and Manuel Souffrain<\/a> serving as the designated hitter.<\/p>\n First pitch was at 1:07 pm and there was slow action from\u00a0the start. After three scoreless frames from both sides, the Seahawks broke through in the fourth inning. UNCW plated five runs on six hits in the inning, highlighted by a pair of home runs from Tyler Lucas and Caden Nelson to take a 5-0 lead.<\/p>\n Jacksonville responded in the bottom half of the inning.\u00a0<\/p>\n Roger Vergara<\/a> opened the frame with a single before Manuel Souffrain<\/a> followed with a base hit of his own.<\/p>\n After Nick DeLisi<\/a> moved the runners into scoring position with a sacrifice bunt, Abdriel Delgado<\/a> delivered the Dolphins’ biggest swing of the day with a double that scored both runners to cut the deficit to three.

UNC Wilmington added two more runs in the fifth inning, including another solo home run from Jake Bechtel and an RBI single later in the frame to extend the lead to 7-2.<\/p>\n Earlier in the game, Jacksonville’s catchers continued their defensive effort, when Nick DeLisi<\/a> threw out a stealing Seahawk. \u00a0
