Duval County Public Schools, in partnership with Trinity Commercial Group, has relisted its administrative headquarters at 1701 Prudential Drive and issued an open call for offers on the Southbank site.<\/p>\n

The move comes after the collapse of a deal to sell the headquarters to developer Chase Properties for $17.2 million and relocate the district offices.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Chase announced Feb. 12 it was terminating the purchase agreement after discovering a Community Development District tax encumbrance of $6 million to $8 million that Chase said was not disclosed during the solicitation, appraisal or negotiation process.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Duval Schools said the encumbrance was included in the purchase agreement.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The headquarters building is west of The District CDD, which was created in 2018. That development, on the former site of JEA\u2019s Southside Generating Station, is now called RiversEdge.<\/p>\n

The school district responded to Chase\u2019s announcement by dropping a deal with Dream Finders Homes to buy offices at 8928 Prominence Parkway in Baymeadows for $13.65 million. A March 3 news release from Duval Schools said board members continue to explore relocation options that would lower the current facility\u2019s annual maintenance costs of $512,624, improve operational efficiency and enhance staff collaboration.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Moving administrative offices also would free the riverfront property for redevelopment.<\/p>\n

Parties interested in buying the six-story, almost 123,000-square-foot building on 4.87 acres may submit offers to Trinity Commercial Group by April 1, 2026.<\/p>\n

Duval Schools has operated there since 1981. The district employs about 600 people in the building.<\/p>\n

On Nov. 4, 2025, the school board voted to accept Chase\u2019s offer to purchase the property. Chase said it intended to demolish the building and build a high-rise with 300 condominiums, 300 apartments and 200,000 square feet of commercial and retail space.<\/p>\n

That vote came a month after the board voted down a proposal to sell the headquarters to retirement community developer Fleet Landing and buy the building in Baymeadows. Fleet Landing said its plans for the site included a 30-story residential tower with a second phase of development adding more residences and amenities.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In February, Fleet Landing announced that it planned a 32-story retirement community on the site of the former Haskell headquarters at 111 Riverside Ave. on the Northbank.<\/p>\n

First-phase plans for that project include 239 independent living residences, 28 assisted living units and 18 memory care suites, as well as a parking garage, multiple dining venues, a swimming pool, a performing arts center and elevated decks.<\/p>\n

Duval Schools has tried to relocate its headquarters to more modern office space for more than 20 years.<\/p>\n
