LUCIE, Fla. \u2014 Port St. Lucie leaders met today to discuss a land sale for a <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wptv.com\/news\/treasure-coast\/region-st-lucie-county\/port-st-lucie\/top-request-from-residents-for-years-port-st-lucie-moves-closer-to-landing-a-costco-retail-store\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">new Costco retail store<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>City leaders voted unanimously in favor of a purchase and sale agreement with Costco Wholesale for about 22.8 acres of land in Southern Grove, an area located west of Interstate 95. <\/p>\n<p>WATCH: PSL leaders meet today regarding Costco<\/p>\n<p>Port St. Lucie to consider purchasing land for Costco store<\/p>\n<p>Costco is proposing a 170,000-square-foot retail store and gas station on the land. <\/p>\n<p>If approved, the retailer will be able to move forward with its plans to build a new retail store, which city officials say has been a &#8220;top request from residents for many years.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>A new <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wptv.com\/news\/treasure-coast\/region-st-lucie-county\/port-st-lucie\/costco-distribution-center-in-port-st-lucie-expected-to-open-march-2026\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Costco distribution center in Port St. Lucie<\/a> was slated to open this month, though construction on the facility is ongoing. The distribution center is expected to <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wptv.com\/money\/real-estate-news\/costco-depot-to-be-constructed-in-port-st-lucie-employing-hundreds-of-people\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">employ<\/a> more than 500 people. <\/p>\n<p>A meeting of the Governmental Finance Corporation \u2014 governed by a board comprised of all five City Council members \u2014 is happening now. <\/p>\n<p>WPTV&#8217;s Tyler Hatfield is there listening, check back here for updates. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"PORT ST.
