{"id":184548,"date":"2026-03-09T19:03:07","date_gmt":"2026-03-09T19:03:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/184548\/"},"modified":"2026-03-09T19:03:07","modified_gmt":"2026-03-09T19:03:07","slug":"man-arrested-at-mia-after-being-caught-with-75-pounds-of-marijuana-in-luggage","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/184548\/","title":{"rendered":"Man arrested at MIA after being caught with 75 pounds of marijuana in luggage"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text text--small text--normal text--primary\">Published:\u00a0March 9, 2026 at 2:32 PM<\/p>\n<p>lead-art-block.fullscreen-enterExpand<img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" data-chromatic=\"ignore\" alt=\"\" class=\"c-image\" loading=\"eager\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/DPES2J6ANZBJFP76Y7SQWCOWAA.jpg\"  width=\"1280\" height=\"720\"\/>Harrison O\u2019Neill Tiernan (Miami-Dade Corrections &amp; Rehabilitation\/WPLG) <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla.  \u2014 A 23-year-old man was arrested over the weekend on a drug trafficking charge after authorities said he tried to travel from Miami to London with a whopping 75 pounds of marijuana in his luggage.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">According to an arrest report from the Miami-Dade Sheriff\u2019s Office, Harrison O\u2019Neill Tiernan, of Austin, Texas, was arrested Saturday afternoon at Miami International Airport after checking two suitcases for his British Airways flight to London\u2019s Heathrow Airport.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">U.S. Customs &amp; Border Protection officers notified MDSO after inspecting both suitcases and discovering they contained multiple vacuum-sealed packages containing \u201cgreen leafy\u201d substances, the report stated. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">CBP officers said Tiernan was stopped while trying to board the flight and acknowledged that the two checked bags belonged to him.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">An MDSO deputy then responded to the scene and Tiernan was taken into custody.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The drugs, later confirmed to be about 75 pounds of marijuana, were confiscated and impounded as evidence. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Deputies said after his arrest, Tiernan stated that he would need to speak with his attorney and requested to know details about his bond amount.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">As of Monday afternoon, he was being held at the Metrowest Detention Center.
