PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (CBS12) \u2014 Port St. Lucie<\/a> leaders are scheduled to vote Monday at noon on a land deal tied to a potential Costco <\/a>retail store in the fast-growing Southern Grove area.<\/p>\n

The Port St. Lucie Governmental Finance Corporation is meeting at noon at City Hall to consider a purchase and sale agreement between the city and Costco Wholesale Corporation<\/a>.<\/p>\n

According to city agenda documents, the agreement would allow Costco to purchase about 22.8 acres of land in Southern Grove, located on Lot 2 of Southern Grove Plat 45.<\/p>\n

If approved, the agreement would allow Costco to proceed with development plans for the site.<\/p>\n

The vote comes as Costco is already building a major distribution depot in Port St. Lucie<\/a>, a project expected to bring more than 500 jobs to the area.<\/p>\n

The Port St. Lucie Governmental Finance Corporation, made up of the city\u2019s five council members, oversees certain city property transactions and financing matters.<\/p>\n

Monday\u2019s vote would authorize the corporation\u2019s president or CEO to enter into and execute the purchase and sale agreement with Costco.<\/p>\n

City leaders say the deal would mark another step forward in bringing a Costco presence to Port St. Lucie as the city continues to grow.<\/p>\n

Right now, the closest Costco for Port St. Lucie shoppers is about 20 miles away in Stuart<\/a>, where the Treasure Coast\u2019s first Costco opened in 2025 on South Kanner Highway.<\/p>\n
