ORLANDO, Fla. \u2014\u00a0The conflict in Iran has caused continued effects to gas prices here at home. In Florida, AAA data shows gas prices have jumped up 60 cents in the last week, so every trip down the road is costing more.<\/p>\n
Soon, your trip up in the airplane could cost more, too.<\/p>\n

Travelers are paying attention to the prices. <\/p>\n
\u201cWe will be coming back in August, and I did already look at airline prices, and they have gone up since I looked originally,\u201d said Michelle Gilson, who is visiting Orlando from Buffalo.<\/p>\n
In some cases, prices for plane tickets have already gone up. But it\u2019s hard to say if that is airlines adjusting for oil prices or the demand to buy driving up costs. <\/p>\n
\u201cIt is very hard to predict. Certainly there is a lot of instability in the market,\u201d said Shem Malmquist, a professor of aeronautics at Florida Tech.<\/p>\n
Malmquist said whether airlines are proactively raising prices or waiting day by day, it will likely be months before they stabilize.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is going to be an interesting situation for a while, certainly that will push up the cost. Anyone who has not already purchased a ticket is looking at higher prices,\u201d Malmquist said.<\/p>\n
Gilson said her recent trip was not affected, but she knows reality will hit once she gets home. <\/p>\n
\u201cMy commute is an hour each way, so that will definitely increase my budget,” she said. “So I will have to budget more for gas and less for something else.”<\/p>\n

\u201cThe oil market is freaking out about it because we just don\u2019t know when deliveries will resume, and so that is a major interruption in the global supply chain,\u201d said Mark Jenkins, a spokesperson for AAA.<\/p>\n
There is plenty of supply in the U.S., but 20% of the world\u2019s supply traveling through the Strait of Hormuz is completely halted due to safety concerns.<\/p>\n
\u201cHopefully, this initial shock wears off in a few days, but we are just going to have to take it day by day,\u201d Malmquist said.<\/p>\n

Orlando is a top destination for spring break travel in the coming weeks. A spokesperson for AAA said people will still come but might cut back on other activities to cut down on their expenses.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s too early to tell when prices will cool off, as everything is so uncertain right now. Experts say that prices are quick to jump up and often slow to come back down, so we are still in the going-up phase.
