HIALEAH, Fla. \u2014 A man and a woman confessed on Monday in Hialeah to pretending to be customers before stealing from two jewelry stores on the same day, according to police. <\/p>\n
Police officers arrested Steven Romero and Jennifer Izquierdo after stopping the black Mercedes-Benz they were in at West Fifth Avenue and 44 Street. <\/p>\n
Police officers reported using surveillance videos and witnesses to piece together their crime spree on Jan. 23 at two stores and two pawn shops. <\/p>\n
Surveillance video shows Romero, 39, and Izquierdo, 43, stealing gold jewelry valued at more than $13,000 at about 12:05 p.m. on Jan. 23 at the Cuban Dan Jewelry, a store in Hialeah, according to police. <\/p>\n
Romero fled in a gray Chevrolet Malibu, which is registered to his mother, according to police. <\/p>\n
Surveillance video shows Romero and Izquierdo stealing gold jewelry valued at more than $13,000 shortly before 1:15 p.m. on Jan. 23 at the Estrella de Oro, a pawn shop in Hialeah, according to police. <\/p>\n
Romero fled in a red Nissan Sentra, which is registered to his grandfather, according to police. <\/p>\n
Shortly before 2:10 p.m. on Jan. 23, Romero was at the South Dade Jewelry and Gun Exchange to pawn a 14K gold bracelet, a 14K Cuban necklace, and a 14K Saint Barbara pendant stolen from Estrella de Oro for $13,000, according to police. <\/p>\n
Shortly after 12:50 p.m., on March 5, Izquierdo was at King Cash Pawn to get $10,700 for two stolen 10K Cuban link chains, according to police. <\/p>\n
Corrections booked Izquierdo and Romero shortly before 8 p.m. on Thursday at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, according to inmate records. <\/p>\n
Izquierdo and Romero each faced four charges in two new cases: Two counts of third-degree grand theft and two counts of organized scheme to defraud. They also faced a bench warrant for petit theft.<\/p>\n
