A man and woman were arrested in connection with a pair of thefts at jewelry store in Hialeah, authorities said.<\/p>\n

Jennifer Izquierdo, 43, and Steven Louis Romero, 39, were arrested Monday on charges of grand theft, organized fraud, and organized scheme to defraud conspiracy, arrest reports said.<\/p>\n

One of the alleged thefts happened on Jan. 23, at Estrella De Oro at 8275 West 12th Avenue.<\/p>\n

According to the reports, Romero entered the store and acted as if he was interested in buying jewelry before Izquierdo arrived and was buzzed into the store.<\/p>\n

Izquierdo held the door for Romero, who ran out carrying several gold items worth over $13,000, the reports said.<\/p>\n

Romero got in a red Nissan Sentra and fled, leaving behind Izquierdo, “as if she had no involvement in the crime,” the reports said.<\/p>\n

The two are also accused of committing another theft using the same method on March 5 at Cuban Dan Jewelry at 1211 West 44th Place, the reports said.<\/p>\n

Romero, wearing the same hat he wore in other theft pretended to be a customer interested in jewelry before Izquierdo was buzzed in and held the door as he ran out with jewelry worth around $13,000, the reports said.<\/p>\n

He fled the scene in a gray Chevrolet Malibu “again leaving the co-defendant behind to appear uninvolved,” the reports said.<\/p>\n

But surveillance footage showed Romero and Izquierdo parking the Malibu several blocks away from the jewelry store, and a witness from Cuban Dan Jewelry identified them as the theft suspects in a photo lineup, the reports said.<\/p>\n

Records showed the Malibu was registered to Romero’s mother and the Sentra was registered to his grandfather, the reports said.<\/p>\n

Investigators also found that the same day as the Estrella De Oro theft, Romero pawned a gold bracelet, a Cuban necklace and a pendant that had been stolen for $13,000, the reports said.<\/p>\n

The same day as the Cuban Dan theft, Izquierdo pawned a Cuban link chain with a Cuban Dan marking and another Cuban link chain for $10,700, the reports said.<\/p>\n
