STUART, Fla. (CBS12) \u2014 A woman was in distress and indicated to law enforcement that she wanted to end her life on Tuesday, prompting a heroic rescue. <\/p>\n

According to the Stuart Police Department<\/a>, at around 9 a.m., officers responded to Roosevelt Bridge<\/a>, where they found the woman straddling the bridge railing. Stuart Police Detective Leedham was able to keep her engaged and prevent the woman from ending her life.<\/p>\n

During a critical moment, the detective was able to grab the woman’s arm and pull her to safety, SPD says.<\/p>\n

The police department says thanks to the officers’ quick thinking and compassion, the woman was taken into protective care so she could recieve the help she needed. <\/p>\n
