JACKSONVILLE, Fla. \u2013 I know we\u2019ve all been longing for some meaningful rain, and I have good news\u2014it\u2019s expected to arrive soon.<\/p>\n
Jacksonville has been dealing with serious drought conditions, and that\u2019s made things extra tricky when it comes to fire safety. <\/p>\n
On Exact Track 4D, our drought monitor is showing \u201cextreme\u201d dry conditions across the area.<\/p>\n
With everything so dry, even low wind gusts mean we need to be extra careful. <\/p>\n
Please remember to use caution with anything that could spark\u2014whether that\u2019s power tools, exhaust pipes on grass, or something as simple as a cigarette. <\/p>\n
Fire danger is real right now, and a little rain could make a big difference.<\/p>\n
Timing rain with big local events<\/p>\n
The forecast is calling for most of the rain to move in Thursday evening into the overnight hours. That means if you\u2019re heading out for The Players, we should start off dry with good conditions for tee off Thursday morning and midday. <\/p>\n
By dinner, though, those showers are likely to develop, and they could linger overnight and into Friday morning.<\/p>\n
Friday could bring intermittent showers, but I don\u2019t expect the entire day to be washed out\u2014just keep an umbrella handy and don\u2019t let it spoil your fun. <\/p>\n
There\u2019s even a 30% chance for more showers on Sunday, so it\u2019s a good idea to keep an eye on our updates here at News4JAX and The Weather Authority.<\/p>\n
Hot temperatures trend, relief in sight<\/p>\n
Today feels pretty great, with temperatures starting in the 60s and climbing toward a high of 89 degrees.<\/p>\n
Tomorrow it gets even warmer, and we\u2019re expected to hit 91 degrees\u2014well above average for this time of year. <\/p>\n
Nighttime lows will also stay much warmer than usual.<\/p>\n
Once the rain system arrives Thursday night into Friday, expect temperatures to dip into the 70s Friday, with highs rebounding into the 80s through the weekend and into Monday. <\/p>\n
The playground forecast has us at 70 degrees by 9 a.m. and close to 89 for the afternoon\u2014so it\u2019s a hot stretch before the cool down comes.<\/p>\n
