The city\u2019s mobility plan is a long-term comprehensive strategy that identifies future transportation needs in the city.<\/p>\n
This corridor was one of many proposed roadways, but the city said the plans are not solidified.<\/p>\n
On Monday, city leaders held a public workshop for the mobility plan\u2014sharing their concerns about the potential new bypass.<\/p>\n
Councilwoman Stephanie Morgan said the roadway could cause home values to plummet.<\/p>\n
\u201cTo dissect a community is hard to fathom,\u201d said Morgan.<\/p>\n
Vice Mayor Jolien Caraballo said she doesn’t want a corridor there, but the city still needs to find solutions for the increase of traffic.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have to find an east-west connection,\u201d said Caraballo. \u201cBut just not there.\u201d<\/p>\n
City council unanimously decided to scrap the corridor entirely.<\/p>\n
Neighbors embraced inside the chambers, thankful their voices were heard.<\/p>\n
