PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (CBS12) \u2014 Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officers, working with local law enforcement, rescued an 84-year-old man with dementia after he went missing for nearly two days in the sprawling J.W. Corbett Wildlife Management <\/a>Area.<\/p>\n

On March 9, the Palm Beach County Sheriff\u2019s Office <\/a>alerted FWC that Winston L. Taylor of Port St. Lucie had left his home the previous afternoon and entered the 60,000-acre WMA early that morning. <\/p>\n

Eleven FWC<\/a> officers immediately responded, launching a search using ground units, air support, and drones.<\/p>\n

At 4:40 p.m., Officer A.J. Harris found Mr. Taylor\u2019s unattended vehicle off the trail, and about 30 minutes later, Lt. Amy Hayes located Mr. Taylor a few hundred yards away. Officers transported him to the WMA entrance, where Palm Beach County Fire Rescue evaluated him before he was taken to a local hospital. Lt. Hayes stayed with him until his family arrived.<\/p>\n
