Some dives draw you to their barstools by the paint job on the walls outside. Tampa\u2019s Why Not Bar\u2014which used to have checkered flags above the door facing N Nebraska Avenue\u2014is one such place (the current paint job is a bit subdued). Described once in a Creative Loafing Tampa Bay dining guide as a \u201cbeer-and-wine-only spot that will leave you wanting a shower after,\u201d<\/a> the cave bar has a wall of fame, and pig\u2019s feet, too.<\/p>\n

To kick off the weekend, it plays host to a show by Jake Brown, a St. Augustine songwriter and producer who deals dark, pulsating, and often harsh cyberpunk under the ISYA moniker (it stands for I Send You Away). Brown also has a St. Pete show<\/a>, but this one in Tampa includes a set from Merchandise frontman and songwriter Carson Cox, plus Haves & Thirds, a project featuring Todd Lynne, the Tampa artist who co-founded legendary homegrown DIY experimental label Cephia\u2019s Treat Recordings<\/a>.<\/p>\n
