NORTH LAUDERDALE, Fla. \u2014 Magdalena Dybkowska seemingly couldn\u2019t contain a smirk as she was being booked into the Broward County jail on an attempted murder charge. According to court documents obtained by Local 10 News on Wednesday, the 34-year-old North Lauderdale woman is accused of shooting her sister.<\/p>\n
According to an arrest report from the Broward Sheriff\u2019s Office, deputies responded to the 1800 block of Southwest 65th Avenue just before 4 a.m. Monday after a woman called 911 to report that \u201ca lady across the street is screaming\u201d and that she heard a \u201cpop\u201d that sounded like a gunshot.<\/p>\n
The neighbor told arriving deputies that an unknown woman \u201cbegan banging on her front door before entering a vehicle and fleeing the area\u201d and \u201cleft behind a backpack in her yard, which deputies observed to have visible blood on it,\u201d the report states.<\/p>\n
Deputies said the neighbor pointed to a nearby home as the source of the screaming. They said when they went there, Dybkowska opened the door to reveal \u201cblood on the floor\u201d inside the home.<\/p>\n
\u201cDeputies issued lawful commands for (Dybkowska) to step outside so they could check for injured persons and secure the scene under exigent circumstances,\u201d BSO Detective Eric Wilson wrote. \u201c(She) instead retreated back into the residence against those commands. When deputies instructed her a second time to exit, she refused and began pulling away as deputies attempted to detain her. She was ultimately secured in handcuffs.\u201d<\/p>\n
Deputies said they went inside and found Dybkowska\u2019s three children in the home, unharmed. They said they found blood on a couch in the backyard. <\/p>\n
According to the report, Dybkowska\u2019s sister showed up at HCA Florida Woodmont Hospital in Tamarac with a gunshot wound a short time later.<\/p>\n
Authorities said the boyfriend of Dybkowska\u2019s sister told investigators that the two siblings had been in a fight inside the home. <\/p>\n
\u201c(He) stated he attempted to separate them and moved with both parties to a couch in the backyard,\u201d Wilson wrote. \u201c(He) reported that during the altercation, the defendant produced an unknown make\/model firearm and shot the victim in the shoulder at close range.\u201d<\/p>\n
The women\u2019s mother, who wasn\u2019t there, told detectives that her wounded daughter \u201ccalled her from the hospital and stated that (Dybkowska) had shot her during an altercation,\u201d the report states.<\/p>\n
Deputies said Dybkowska\u2019s sister \u2015 and Dybkowska herself \u2015 refused to speak with them about the incident. <\/p>\n
The report doesn\u2019t state what the two were arguing about and it\u2019s unclear whether deputies were able to find out.<\/p>\n
A Florida Department of Children and Families investigator took Dybkowska\u2019s children to the agency\u2019s North Lauderdale office.<\/p>\n
In addition to an attempted murder charge, deputies arrested Dybkowska \u2015 whom they identified as a native of Warsaw, Poland who\u2019s lived in Broward for the last 18 years \u2015 on one count of resisting arrest.<\/p>\n
As of Wednesday afternoon, she remained jailed without bond in BSO\u2019s North Broward Bureau jail facility in Pompano Beach.<\/p>\n
