Tour.\u201d He is bringing the real talk and finds the funny in everything from family to culture as only he can.<\/p>\n \u201cComedy gives me that instant gratification,\u201d Lawrence says. \u201cSeeing the fans up close and in person, making people laugh, doing what I love most, this is what it\u2019s all about for me. His breakthrough film role came courtesy of Spike Lee in the classic \u201cDo The Right Thing!\u201d Other film roles followed, including \u201cHouse Party\u201d and \u201cBoomerang.\u201d<\/p>\n He soon captured the attention of mega producer Russell Simmons who tapped Lawrence to host the groundbreaking HBO series \u201cDef Comedy Jam.\u201d In 1992, Lawrence landed his own hit series, \u201cMartin.\u201d The ratings juggernaut single-handedly elevated Fox to a major contender against network television stations.
