Cypress Bay<\/a> lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Fort Lauderdale<\/a>, but it’s fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Wednesday’s game. The Lightning were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Flying L’s on Wednesday. The Lightning might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by ten runs or more this season.<\/p>\n Alexis Groenendijk<\/a> was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn’t tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI.<\/p>\n In other batting news, Julia Gabante<\/a> was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Teresa Foschia<\/a> was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.<\/p>\n Cypress Bay was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .519. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.<\/p>\n The win made it two in a row for Cypress Bay and bumps their season record up to 5-2. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games. As for Fort Lauderdale, their loss dropped their record down to 6-3.<\/p>\n Cypress Bay and Fort Lauderdale will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next contests. The next time the Lightning see the field they’ll take on Coral Glades at 5:30 p.m. on the 24th. As for Fort Lauderdale, their break will end when they face Chaminade-Madonna at 4:30 p.m. on the 25th.<\/p>\n
