A Florida<\/a> Keys sheriff\u2019s deputy who met a woman while working security on the set of an Apple TV show allegedly used confidential law enforcement databases to track her down \u2013 then sped after her and pulled her over in what investigators say was an unauthorized traffic stop.<\/p>\n

Deputy Lamar Eliseo Roman, 28, was arrested Tuesday on a charge of accessing a computer or electronic device without authority after investigators say he misused the databases to find a woman he met while working on the set of the show \u201cBad Monkey,\u201d according to a Monroe County Sheriff\u2019s Office warrant obtained by Local 10 News.<\/a><\/p>\n

Authorities say Roman used the information to locate the woman and pulled her over on U.S. 1, at one point \u201calmost caus(ing) a head-on collision\u201d while speeding to catch up with her. Roman, who had been with the Monroe County Sheriff\u2019s Office since May 2025, has since been fired.<\/p>\n

Roman later admitted that he improperly searched the databases and told his fellow deputies that he just wanted to apologize.<\/p>\n

\u201cI mean, it\u2019s a tough month and I saw a shiny thing and teasing and all that and I knew that when I put that I\u2019m like \u2018f***,\u2019 and that\u2019s why I just like I stopped right after and nothing else,\u201d investigators said Roman told them.<\/p>\n

It all began on February 3 after Roman noticed the woman getting off the extras bus on the set of \u201cBad Monkey,\u201d a streaming series set in the Florida Keys starring Vince Vaughn and based on the novel by South Florida author Carl Hiaasen.<\/p>\n

Roman, who was working security on the set, \u201cbegan whistling at her\u201d and proceeded to \u201ccat call\u201d her, \u201cvery loudly\u201d saying, \u201cOh my god, why didn\u2019t nobody tell me we were bringing models to (the) set,\u201d according to the report.<\/p>\n

At some point, Roman and the woman, who was not identified, talked and the woman told him she had a boyfriend. Roman continued \u201cflirting and joking\u201d with her before they exchanged names and cellphone numbers, the report stated.<\/p>\n

He allegedly \u201cstated something along the lines of, \u2018I need your name and number just in case I pull you over someday,\u2019\u201d according to the report.<\/p>\n

Investigators say Roman then accessed Florida\u2019s Driver and Vehicle Information Database, known as DAVID, as well as the Florida Crime Information Center\/National Crime Information Center databases to look up the woman\u2019s information. He also entered her license plate into a \u201chotlist,\u201d which alerts officers if a vehicle is detected by license plate readers.<\/p>\n

On February 19, the woman\u2019s plate pinged on the system.<\/p>\n

Dashcam footage reviewed by investigators allegedly shows Roman, who was on patrol that day, accelerating to about 70 mph on U.S. 1 while passing two dump trucks in a no-passing zone, then an SUV, in an attempt to catch up to the vehicle.<\/p>\n

Investigators say Roman \u201calmost cause(d) a head-on collision while passing as a white truck traveling northbound had to veer off the roadway\u201d to avoid a crash.<\/p>\n

About two minutes later, authorities say Roman pulled the woman over near Bobalu\u2019s Southern Caf\u00e9 on Big Coppitt Key. His in-car camera recorded video, but not audio, because he was not wearing his microphone.<\/p>\n

According to the report, the woman later told investigators the stop made her \u201cuncomfortable\u201d because of Roman\u2019s comments, including, \u201cOh, I thought you had a boyfriend.\u201d She also questioned how he knew it was her vehicle. Investigators say Roman also asked her why she had not followed him back on Instagram. The traffic stop was never logged in official records.<\/p>\n

\u201cI told you I\u2019d find you and pull you over,\u201d he allegedly responded. \u201cAnd I was hoping your boyfriend was in the car so I can pull him out and give him a hard time.\u201d<\/p>\n

In a March 4 interview, Roman told investigators that, regarding the traffic stop, \u201cAt that point I was just going to say \u2018hi,\u2019 you know, \u2018got you\u2019 and we were laughing and then that\u2019s kind of it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Roman had been working security on the set of \u2018Bad Monkey,\u2019 a streaming series set in the Florida Keys when he noticed the woman and attempted to talk to her. He later looked up her info and pulled her over, according to court documents (Apple TV)<\/p>\n

According to the warrant, the woman said \u201cshe did not want to pursue criminal charges against Deputy Roman.\u201d However, the sheriff\u2019s office moved forward with the case and arrested him on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

In a statement after the arrest, Monroe County Sheriff Rick Ramsay said he was \u201ccommitted to keeping this community informed of significant events that occur in this agency \u2014 good and bad.\u201d<\/p>\n
