PETERSBURG, Fla \u2014 Imagine finding out you have financial assets in your name that you haven&#8217;t claimed? That was the case for many Floridians who got a combined $88 million in unclaimed property returned last month.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Blaise Ingoglia, the Chief Financial Officer of Florida, announced that Florida returned a record-breaking $88 million in unclaimed assets during the month of February.<\/p>\n<p>Property is marked as &#8220;unclaimed&#8221; when a financial asset is abandoned, lost, or simply sits unused for five years by a government agency, bank, business, or other organization. Some examples of unclaimed property include: dormant bank accounts, unclaimed insurance proceeds, stocks, dividends, uncashed checks, deposits, credit balances and refunds, the CFO office explained.<\/p>\n<p>Unclaimed property can also be a tangible asset, though, such as jewelry, coins, watches, currency, stamps, historical items or property that was abandoned in safe deposit boxes.<\/p>\n<p>You can visit <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fltreasurehunt.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">FLTreasureHunt.gov<\/a> to search for your unclaimed property, if any, the CFO office says, disclosing the following amounts by region in Florida:<\/p>\n<p>Pensacola \u2013 $2.6 million\u00a0Panama City \u2013 $1.05 million\u00a0Tallahassee \u2013 $1.8 million\u00a0Jacksonville \u2013 $6.8 million\u00a0Gainesville \u2013 $1.3 million\u00a0Orlando \u2013 $14.4 million\u00a0Tampa\/ St. Pete \u2013 $23.8 million\u00a0Fort Myers\/ Naples \u2013 $4.9 million\u00a0West Palm Beach \u2013 $12.9 million\u00a0Miami \u2013 $18.8 Million\u00a0                    <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis record-breaking month of unclaimed property returns mean more money back into the pockets of Floridians,&#8221; CFO Blaise Ingoglia said. &#8220;Our Division of Unclaimed Property is working tirelessly every day to return lost assets to their rightful owner.
