\u201cThe Creation of Adam\u201d by Renaissance artist Michelangelo is one of the most famous paintings in history.<\/p>\n
Michael Goodman: \u201cIt\u2019s amazing, right?\u201d<\/p>\n
What\u2019s really amazing is that it\u2019s part of a show at Fort Lauderdale\u2019s Galleria Mall called \u201cMichelangelo\u2019s Sistine Chapel Exhibition\u201d.<\/p>\n
Michael Goodman: \u201cWhat\u2019s here is an amazing series of images from Michelangelo\u2019s Sistine Chapel.\u201d<\/p>\n
Think of it as a trip to Italy without having to pack a bag.<\/p>\n
Michael Goodman: \u201cEach of the images has its own story. You can be totally immersed in this exhibit, and it\u2019s like you were there.\u201d<\/p>\n
These replicas are almost as impressive as the real thing.<\/p>\n
Michael Goodman: \u201cYeah, you know, we definitely, painstakingly, worked out a process to create a special fabric to mirror the images as best as possible.\u201d<\/p>\n
The mall has brought these historic works down to earth.<\/p>\n
Michael Goodman: \u201cThis exhibit you\u2019re right up close and personal, not like the Vatican, where your head is up at the ceiling, so it\u2019s pretty amazing. The detail of every art piece is spectacular.\u201d<\/p>\n
Even if you recognize the more famous frescos, like \u201cthe creation of Eve\u201d or \u201cthe last judgment,\u201d there are so many more examples of Michelangelo\u2019s genius on display.<\/p>\n
Michael Goodman: \u201cSo there are 34 replicas. The exhibit provides an audio or storyboard so that you get the complete package.\u201d<\/p>\n
Michelangelo needed four years to finish the job at the Sistine Chapel; putting this presentation together wasn\u2019t far behind.<\/p>\n
Michael Goodman: \u201cIt took a few years to build this exhibit.\u201d<\/p>\n
Here at the Galleria, you get to linger with the art and do things you can\u2019t do at the Vatican.<\/p>\n
Michael Goodman: \u201cThe owner of the group was at the Sistine Chapel, kind of was mesmerized, but was challenged because when you go to the Vatican, you only have so much time and you can\u2019t take pictures.\u201d<\/p>\n
The entire exhibit absolutely knocks you out. The individual paintings give you a chance to admire the artist\u2019s style.<\/p>\n
Michael Goodman: \u201cThe story of each piece is also amazing. Not only is the work so intricate and amazing, but each tells an interesting story.\u201d<\/p>\n
You come away from the experience with a real sense of who Michelangelo really was.<\/p>\n
Michael Goodman: \u201cThe takeaway for many is he was a prolific artist with great depth.\u201d<\/p>\n
Having \u201cMichelangelo\u2019s Sistine Chapel Exhibition\u201d at the Galleria Mall does have one special perk.<\/p>\n
Michael Goodman: \u201cYou get the experience of this exhibit, but then you go right out to the gallery and shop and dine, so you get a whole day package.\u201d<\/p>\n
