The restaurant closed March 2.<\/p>\n<p>Created by chef Niven Patel and business partner Mohamed Alkassar of <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/fealhospitality.com\/\">Feal Hospitality<\/a>, Paya was conceived as a celebration of island cuisine, not only the Caribbean islands but those in southeast Asia and off Spain. The restaurant was also known for its seasonal block parties held outside on its patio.<\/p>\n<p>Alkassar, who lives in Miami Beach, declined to talk specifics about the closing but said he will be taking over the space to introduce a new restaurant concept next month.<\/p>\n<p>                                              <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"responsive-image\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Paya Dining Room.jpg\"   width=\"1140\" height=\"759\" title=\"Paya Dining Room.jpg\" alt=\"The dining room of Paya, which is now closed in Miami Beach.\"\/>                                                                                    The dining room of Paya, which is now closed in Miami Beach.                                                                                    <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI saw an opportunity in pivoting to a concept that leans more into South Beach\u2019s edge,\u201d he explained. \u201cI\u2019d never close a restaurant in my backyard without opening something even better.\u201d He plans to bring the block parties back, too.<\/p>\n<p>Though Patel won\u2019t be part of the new concept, he and Alkassar will continue to work together as Feal Hospitality, which will focus on Ghee Indian Kitchen. The <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/guide.michelin.com\/us\/en\/article\/features\/the-bib-gourmand\">Michelin Bib Gourmand<\/a> Indian restaurant first opened in Downtown Dadeland in Kendall, then Feal <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.miamiherald.com\/miami-com\/restaurants\/article297225819.html\">opened another location in Wynwood<\/a> late in 2024.<\/p>\n<p>Last October, the first Ghee outside Florida debuted in Atlanta. The restaurant has been so successful in Georgia, Alkassar says, that they\u2019re scouting for a second location there.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re humbled by the support Ghee has found in Atlanta,\u201d he said. \u201cWe plan to make Atlanta our second home.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>            Connie Ogle loves wine, books and the Miami Heat.
