MARTIN COUNTY \u2014 A man hired to perform work inside a Martin County home is accused of stealing more than $25,000 worth of jewelry, according to the Martin County Sheriff\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n
According to MCSO, the suspect, 39-year-old Noe Israel Castro-Vail, was employed by a Tampa-based construction contracting company and stole approximately $26,000 worth of jewelry from inside the home he was working on.<\/p>\n
Deputies were called to a Martin County home on Oct. 15 after a resident reported that several pieces of jewelry had gone missing earlier in the day. When they arrived, they met with a woman who explained that a crew had been working inside her house on a construction project and she suspected one or more of the workers had taken her valuables, according to an arrest affidavit.<\/p>\n
The woman said she noticed the jewelry missing from a bag where she usually kept it. Among the stolen items were a watch, three rings, and three earrings \u2014 together worth about $26,300. She told deputies she had last seen the pieces around 7 a.m. before leaving the house for the day. The workers, she said, arrived about an hour later and stayed until late afternoon.<\/p>\n
Castro-Vail was arrested shortly after the victim reported the crime to deputies.<\/p>\n
After learning of the allegations, the company supervisor confronted the workers, and Castro-Vail was identified as the suspect after they were asked to empty their pockets and search their vehicles.<\/p>\n
He was charged with grand theft and was transported to the Martin County jail.<\/p>\n
