A Charlotte County violent offender with multiple arrests will serve 25 years in prison after pleading No Contest to various charges.<\/p>\n

On March 11, 2026, Anthony Mojica (3\/17\/2005) stood in a Charlotte County courtroom for sentencing after pleading Nolo-Contendere on multiple charges. The Honorable Judge Shannon McFee announced that Mojica will serve 25 years in prison, which is the mandatory minimum for his charge of Trafficking in Fentanyl, plus five years of probation upon release. He will not receive credit for time already served. <\/p>\n

Mojica has been well-known to law enforcement in Charlotte County, both with CCSO and with the Punta Gorda Police Department, with engagements dating back to 2018 when he was just 13 years old. Mojica\u2019s first felony arrest with CCSO came in 2019, with three drug-related felonies and two misdemeanors (including resisting arrest) in that particular incident. <\/p>\n

In January of 2020, Mojica was arrested again after shooting a firearm at the hood and windshield of an occupied RV, as well as for violation of probation.<\/p>\n

Six months later, in July 2020, he was arrested again for violation of probation.<\/p>\n

\"\"Mojica in October 2020<\/p>\n

Later, in October 2020, CCSO deputies arrested Mojica again. In this incident, he faced 10 burglary and larceny charges.<\/p>\n

In January of 2021, he was again arrested on drug possession and paraphernalia charges.<\/p>\n

Following two separate instances of Mojica absconding from his residential commitment (running away from a mandated facility) in March 2022, Mojica found himself under arrest again in April 2022 on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon for firing a gun from a vehicle at another person, as well as on additional drug-related charges and again resisting arrest. He was then re-arrested in April 2022, less than three weeks later, for possession of controlled substance and violation of probation. He then failed to appear for a court hearing in June, absconded again in July, and violated probation in October.<\/p>\n

In April 2025, Mojica was arrested on four felony charges after discharging a firearm in a local Walmart parking lot. In addition to this, he was charged with possession of a 39 grams of fentanyl (39 grams total) and 34 grams of cocaine. For reference, a trafficking amount of fentanyl is 4 grams.<\/p>\n

This young man has been a problem for far too long, with many opportunities to turn his life around, and now the consequences have caught up to him. I thank my deputies and detectives for all of their hard work to take this constant nuisance and dangerous young man off the streets. Let this be a clear message to any others who are living this kind of life \u2013 we don\u2019t mess around. Your time is coming, too.\u201d<\/p>\n
