ORLANDO, Fla. \u2013 Former Orlando commissioner Regina Hill<\/a> was in court Friday as her attorneys updated a judge on the status of her case.<\/p>\n

During the hearing, the defense requested that the judge issue an order to obtain medical records from a witness and asked to schedule another status hearing for January.<\/p>\n

Attorney Fritz Scheller spoke outside the courtroom, where he said he felt confident in Hill\u2019s case.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think the evidence that\u2019s been coming out so far is going to vindicate Ms. Hill,\u201d Scheller said. \u201cIn the witnesses I\u2019ve interviewed and the evidence I\u2019ve seen, she\u2019s been an extraordinary member of her community.<\/p>\n

Hill faces more than half a dozen charges <\/a>after the Florida Department of Law Enforcement said she exploited a 96-year-old woman.<\/p>\n

Hill was accused of gaining control of the woman\u2019s finances and draining her life savings of more than $100,000.<\/p>\n

Investigators said she used the money to do things like buy a house and pay for a facelift. They also have claimed Hill obtained a power of attorney over the woman.<\/p>\n

Hill has denied any wrongdoing and is running to win back her District 5 seat on Nov. 4. She\u2019s running against current Commissioner Shan Rose, as well as community activist Lawanna Gelzer.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cI know I\u2019ll be vindicated. I\u2019ve harmed no one in this work,\u201d Hill said. \u201cMy constituents are responding to my work and they want me to continue it.\u201d<\/p>\n

A status hearing for Hill\u2019s case was scheduled for Jan. 16.<\/p>\n
