{"id":192161,"date":"2026-03-15T04:02:10","date_gmt":"2026-03-15T04:02:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/192161\/"},"modified":"2026-03-15T04:02:10","modified_gmt":"2026-03-15T04:02:10","slug":"zoo-miami-closes-for-second-day-in-a-row-due-to-bomb-threat-will-reopen-sunday-with-added-security","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/192161\/","title":{"rendered":"Zoo Miami closes for second day in a row due to bomb threat, will reopen Sunday with added security"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/miami\/tag\/zoo-miami\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\">Zoo Miami\u00a0<\/a>will reopen Sunday with &#8220;enhanced security measures&#8221; after closing for the second day in a row on Saturday due to a bomb threat.<\/p>\n<p>The zoo posted an update to guests on social media saying that they are coordinating with local law enforcement. &#8220;Guests may notice increased security presence, including K-9 units,&#8221; the <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/zoomiami\/status\/2033005844963508472\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">post on X <\/a>read, &#8220;The safety of our guests, staff, and animals remains our top priority.&#8221;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The zoo first\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/zoomiami\/status\/2032887678388109686\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">posted on X <\/a>at around 2:32 p.m.&#8221;In an abundance of caution, Zoo Miami is currently closed to the public following an anonymous phone call reporting a bomb threat.  We appreciate the public&#8217;s patience and cooperation. Additional updates will be provided as more information becomes available.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff&#8217;s Office, this is the second swatting call that was made to the zoo on both Friday and Saturday.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>MDSO deputies swept the area on Friday afternoon out of an abundance of caution.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The zoo remained closed for the rest of Friday afternoon, but reopened Saturday morning until they had to close again after this second bomb threat.
