{"id":192462,"date":"2026-03-15T14:30:08","date_gmt":"2026-03-15T14:30:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/192462\/"},"modified":"2026-03-15T14:30:08","modified_gmt":"2026-03-15T14:30:08","slug":"long-tsa-lines-remain-at-fort-lauderdale-airport-due-to-government-shutdown-spring-break","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/192462\/","title":{"rendered":"Long TSA lines remain at Fort Lauderdale airport due to government shutdown, spring break"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph\">FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.  \u2014 Security lines at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport <a href=\"https:\/\/www.local10.com\/news\/local\/2026\/03\/14\/long-tsa-lines-at-fort-lauderdale-airport-amid-government-shutdown\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.local10.com\/news\/local\/2026\/03\/14\/long-tsa-lines-at-fort-lauderdale-airport-amid-government-shutdown\/\">have been quite long this weekend<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">On Saturday, the line for TSA at Terminal 1 snaked outside of the building, and Sunday morning it wasn\u2019t much better. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The TSA turbulence continues across the nation because of a partial government shutdown.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Federal employees of the Department of Homeland Security are not getting paid amid the shutdown. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cThey actually need to be paid,\u201d said traveler Helen Samuels. \u201cIf they come to work, they should get their full pay because they have families too. If the government is not hungry, why should the people working be hungry?\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">TSA workers have been caught in the crosshairs of the political battle on Capitol Hill.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cTo me, it\u2019s a selfish thing that our government is doing,\u201d said Samuels. \u201cWe all work hard, and TSA works extra hard to keep the American people safe.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">In under a year, government shutdowns have impacted TSA workers three times, leaving them without pay, even when they\u2019re working.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cI think it\u2019s terrible that people have to work without being paid,\u201d said traveler Heather Exner. \u201cI don\u2019t understand why the government shutdown. What do we pay taxes for? Get to work.
