TALLAHASSEE \u2014 The No. 10 Florida State softball team (24-4, 2-0) secured a decisive 13-1 victory over Syracuse (11-9, 0-2) to secure the series win at JoAnne Graf Field on Saturday.<\/p>\n
The Seminoles were propelled by two home runs and a dominant five-run second inning, while holding the Orange to just two hits over five innings.<\/p>\n
Isa Torres<\/a> opened the scoring for Florida State in the first inning with a solo home run to right field. Jaysoni Beachum<\/a> walked and later scored on a groundout by Kennedy Harp<\/a>, putting the Noles ahead 2-0 after one inning.<\/p>\n In the second inning, the Noles added five more runs to take full control. Shelby McKenzie<\/a> walked and advanced to third on a single by Marin Heller<\/a> and another by Makenna Sturgis<\/a>. Hayley Griggs<\/a> hit a sacrifice fly to score McKenzie. Beachum drew a bases-loaded walk, and Bella Ruggiero<\/a> followed with a sacrifice fly to center to score Sturgis.\u00a0Harp then reached on a throwing error by Syracuse, allowing Torres and Beachum to score, making it 7-0 Florida State through two innings.<\/p>\n McKenzie hit her fourth home run of the season in the third inning to put the Noles ahead 8-0.<\/p>\n The fourth inning saw FSU\u00a0add five more runs. Harp singled, and Angelee Bueno<\/a> was hit by a pitch. McKenzie and Heller hit back-to-back doubles to make it 11-0.
